Our Services

The heart of marine survey is to provide an objective and accurate report of a vessel’s condition and an estimate of the vessel’s value. Our background in the marine business for more than 40 years has given us a realistic and sometimes hard-bitten view on the specific strengths and weaknesses found in certain manufacturers and models of boats and marine equipment. We put that experience to work for you.

We believe quality marine surveying is a combination of experience, analysis skills and constant learning. But just as important is the ability to clearly communicate and report findings in a clear and understandable format. We don’t do canned checklist marine surveys. We do use digital cameras and computers to provide fast service and professional reporting of our findings. We deliver reports in the format you prefer: email, fax or delivery by designated service (overnight, postal, etc.). And we are always upfront about the costs involved.

We are biased, but the most important tool in any survey is what we have learned from the hundreds of surveys and repair jobs we’ve worked on. We keep an open mind, but it helps to know the weaknesses, the tell-tale signs of weaknesses, and where and what to look for.

Pre-Purchase Condition & Valuation Surveys

You want to know as much about the boat as possible, potential problems, and whether it is worth the asking price. We examine every accessible component on the boat, from hull construction to machinery to electrical and plumbing systems, to rigging and safety equipment.

Insurance/Finance Renewal Condition & Valuation Surveys

This survey is a shorter process, at lower cost, to update a previous survey. It is usually done as a follow-up to required corrective action or other requirements of lenders and/or insurance companies.

Damage/Appraisal Evaluations

We have worked with a number of insurance underwriters to assess and provide estimates on repair work to damaged boats. We’ve seen our share of write-offs, but more importantly, we have identified realistic repair scenarios to keep costs manageable. We inventory the extent and probable cause of damage, when possible, together with an estimate of repair cost.

Consultation

Our extensive experience in the repair business for both commercial and recreational, and the extensive vessel operation experience has resulted in many consulting assignments on repair, modifications, refitting, re-powering and operation.
